A critical incident reported from Nashville Tennessee, shows the moments a man charged officers with a knife during a roadside welfare check, which caused an officer involved shooting.

At approximately 5:05 a.m., on August the 11th, a K9 unit was patrolling the 5500 block of Charlotte Pike in West Nashville, when the unit came across a Toyota 4Runner parked outside Cricket Wireless. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed a knife in the mans hand and immediately began commanding him to put the knife down. As indicated by the body worn footage, the suspect disregarded the commands and provided no verbal communication back to the officer. Additional officers responded to the scene in support of the K9 officer.

After nearly three minutes of negotiating, the suspect abruptly opens the vehicle door and began charging at the officer with the knife. In response, three officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect and subduing him. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid to the suspect. Despite life-saving medical aid, the suspect was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect was later identified as Daniel Turney Crowley.

No officers were injured during the incident.
