Brutal footage shows a Russian soldier either walking to or from his guard shift when, unknown to him, an explosive-laden kamikaze drone rapidly approaches from the rear.

The munition erupts into a powerful blast, instantly killing the target. Although a grim rationalization of the situation: it's likely the man had no idea what happened nor did he feel a thing. The fate of many combatants on the Ukrainian battlefield is often more prolonged and painful.

The incident reportedly occurred in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Donetsk.
