This compilation of NYPD bodycam footage records two NYPD officers as they respond to a call regarding someone acting violently with a kinfe. When they arrive, they find the suspect has taken a hostage at knife-point: his own mother. An officer shoots him to prevent the hostage being killed. Viewer discretion is advised.

The officers arrive at the apartment in question, finding the door initially locked as they hear the screaming inside. However, At 0:23, a woman, later revealed to be the suspect's girlfriend, opens the door and flees, having sustained slashes to her face. Upon entering the apartment, the officers find the suspect, 30-year-old- Michael Dotel, holding a woman later identified as his mother, at knifepoint.

Dotel repeatedly urges the officer to "do it," warning that he'll kill her. Left with no option, the officer puts one round in Dotel's head at 0:45. He is killed instantly, falling to the ground with his mother. His nightmare is over, hers will go on. At 0:49, we see the incident from the other officer's viewpoint. He had less-than-lethal coverage with his TASER.
