Footage released today by the IDF shows an Iron Sting guided mortar system from Elbit Systems being utilized to destroy a rocket launching station that was being utilized by Hamas to conduct strikes against Israeli targets. The Maglan commando unit is responsible for this strike, which they coordinated with the Israeli Air Force.

The Iron Sting mortar system is a 120mm, laser and GPS guided weapon developed by Elbit Systems and the IDF in 2021. It enables mortar units to accurately and precisely drop mortar munitions in densely populated areas while drastically reducing error rates that could result in possible collateral damage. The weapon operates off of a networked precision fire system, and is usually employed from either the back of an M113 APC or a humvee.
