Footage has surfaced showing a Russian strike on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa using an Iranian-made loiter munition, also cold a kamikaze drone. The exact description of the target isn't clear.

Recent photos of the crashed and exploded Iranian-made drones have surfaced in Ukraine. While the Iranian nomenclature for the suicide drone is the Shahed-136, markings on the Russian procured units are labeled Geran-2.

In late August, Iran began delivering hundreds of Mohajer-6 and Shahed-series drones to the Russian military to be used in Ukraine. Russia sought out the Iranian defense industry to replenish their combat losses of observation drones and diminished fleet of organically-developed loiter munitions.

The Shahed-series drones are the same design used by Iran and Iranian proxies in Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon. While certainly not as sophisticated or as effective as Western tech, the Iranian drones give the Russians a new tool and will undoubtedly change the manner in which the war is fought.
