Manipur Police Commandos Fighting with Century-old Weapons

This bodycam/Go-Pro style footage, provided by the Manipur Police Commando unit, shows their personnel being engaged by an unspecified number of gunmen, as they defend from an entrenched position. Of particular note is their weaponry, some of which would have been cutting-edge over 100 years ago.

Along with the FAL, these "police commandos" are also fielding what appear to be Lee-Enfield bolt action rifles, and in most cases, no optics. The FAL represents a significant leap forward in technology as compared to the over-a-century-old SMLE for obvious reasons, but all in all, these guys appear to be on a technological parity with the troops depicted in "The Siege of Jadotville"... which takes place in the 1960s. After the firefight, the video shifts to the Commandos on patrol, which highlights a similar disparity in their uniforms and general equipment.

Although the date of this footage was not given, it is reported that on Wednesday, 28 February 2024, the Manipur Police Commandos laid down their arms in protest after enduring several 'targeted' attacks on their personnel, including an RPG attack in late December and the kidnapping of the Chief of police, after which the Commandos were not permitted to retaliate.
