The streets of Dublin erupted in protest yesterday (11/23/23) in response to a series of stabbings that happened earlier in the day. The victims of that attack included children, one of whom is in critical conditon. This prompted outrage among Dublin citizens, which manifested in looting, damaging property and attacking police personnel. The Gardai report 34 arrests, and have stated that the protesters were mainly from far-right elements who spread misinformation and unconfirmed speculation regarding the perpetrator of the knife attack. The motive for the attack remains unknown but the leading suspect is an Irish citizen.
