If you're a civilian thinking about joining the military, this is a solid video from General Discharge that explains the difference between enlisting in the military, versus becoming a commissioned officer.

This video is dominantly targeted towards the civilians who frequent the webpage. While we are a self proclaimed veteran community, we are not an exclusive good old boys club. We know there's historical value in the footage we post, and we also know that it's important for civilians to see the ugly side of combat so they can better understand what it means when they allow their politicians to send troops off to armed conflict.

Also, it's worth noting that a good number of our users are between the ages of 18 and 24, and may be interested in joining the military in some capacity. This video is specifically being posted for that target section of our audience so that they can understand the difference between the enlisted and commissioned side's of the house.

If you're in that camp of thinking about joining, I highly recommend checking out the YouTube channel this video is linked to. They're called General Discharge and they make no bullshit videos that explain a lot of the ins and outs of a military career. Bonus points to them because the channel is ran by active duty and veteran service members who compile the information in a very plain English format, so everything is easy to understand even if you don't know a ton of military jargon.
