This is a video that is pretty near and dear to my heart. Alex Minsky was a Marine that I was injured with during our 2009 deployment to the Farah province of Afghanistan. On June 1, 2009 our vehicle ran over a very large IED that turned our vehicle inside out.
His injuries were very severe, as were mine, and we were both medically evacuated from country to receive follow on care. I traveled with him from Camp Bastion all the way back to the United States. During his intense recovery, Alex battled with his demons and turned to alcoholism. He beat it though, and now he’s a professional underwear model. What a weird world we live in.
This is a message to anyone who feels like maybe they can’t make it. If Alex can become a world renowned underwear model, and I can be where I am today working on the Funker530 project, you can do anything. Neither of us are special, neither of us are perfect. We’re human beings just like you, and we carry the same baggage that you do.
You can do anything. You might fail, you might fall, but the worst thing you can do is not try. Get back on it. I want to see you succeed.
There might be some questions about the IED blast that injured us. There’s a long form post in the works that I intend to publish within the next week that explains the entire night as it happened. If you’re interested in reading that, make sure you keep an eye out for the post.
