The family of a fallen Marine adopts their son’s working dog to give him a new home, and bring a part of their son home.

Sgt. Joshua Ashley was walking point for a Marine Special Operations team in Afghanistan when he was killed by an improvised explosive device. His dog, Sirius, survived the attack and continued to serve the Marine Corps until February of 2016 when he was officially retired.

At his retirement he was adopted by his former handler’s family, who flew across the country to see his retirement, and bring him home.
