Make sure to have your subtitles on for the first installment of a six part series that focuses on vikings (the Danes) conducting NATO anti piracy operations off the coast of Somalia.

Denmark took an active role in combatting piracy around the Horn of Africa for nine years. They eventually pulled out of the NATO-led anti piracy operation “Ocean Shield” in late 2016.

However, they were successful in capturing almost 300 suspected pirates. In 2011, there were 250 pirate attacks against merchant vessels in the region, but due to Denmark and their partner forces, those numbers dropped to only a couple attacks a year by the time Denmark ended their involvement in operations.
