WWII Bomb Explodes In English Town

A massive WWII German bomb was discovered and detonated in the English town of Exeter on Feb. 27, 2021.


The bomb, which measured eight feet in length was believed to have been dropped on the town in the spring of 1942 by the German Luftwaffe. Local government carried out an evacuation of approximately 2,600 homes before army personnel prepped the site and detonate the device.


The explosion reportedly left a crater the size of a double decker bus and could be heard up to five miles away. Before detonation, army engineers constructed walls and sand berms to reduce the damage capabilities of the blast.
