Video: Iranian Navy Discovers US Submarine Spying On Naval Exercise

The Iranian Navy got a surprise when it was discovered that a US missile submarine, believed to be USS Georgia (SSGN 729), crashed their naval exercise uninvited on or around Jan. 14, 2021.

The footage recorded from an Iranian Navy SH-3 Sea King helicopter shows the Ohio Class cruise missile sub fully submerged and later with the periscope exposed. The Iranians attempt to contact the sub in English but get no response. The sub then dives and disappears.

The USS Georgia usually carries around 150 Tomahawk cruise missiles but may also be fitted with intelligence gathering assets that may have been utilized on the Iranian Navy at the time it was discovered. Maybe it was just saying "Hello."
