CCTV security footage captures the moment a resourceful, although possibly insane, civilian uses a gas pump to stop a violent attack in its tracks.

The would-be victim can be seen leisurely pumping fuel into his automobile when all of a sudden, a white van rolls up aggressively and three men get out with obvious malicious intent. Whether they chose their target at random for a hijacking or if some kind of previous bad blood between the two parties existed isn't known from the footage, but the gas station patron thinks fast and begins spraying the attackers with gasoline.

Not only does gas cause severe eye irritation, it's highly combustable nature makes the attackers realize they are in an extreme amount of danger and their intended victim may be borderline psychotic. The defense measure works, and within seconds, the attackers recover to their vehicle and hastily exfiltrate the area before the gas man can light up a victory cigarette.
