We've compiled some stunning footage coming out of the crisis at Kabul airport as US troops attempt to evacuate US personnel and allied civilians following the collapse of the Afghan government.

Multiple infantry battalions of US Marines and paratroopers were deployed to facilitate the evacuation, but have since been overwhelmed and overran by hordes of desperate Afghans attempting to board aircraft and escape the country now in control of the Taliban.

The security situation, or lack there of, is a nightmare for those troops. Hundreds, if not thousands of unverified, unscreened people are mobbing amongst military aircraft and personnel, and anyone of them could be strapped with an explosive device or firearm.

Throngs of Afghans are blocking runways, making it hard for planes to take off and impossible for new aircraft to land. The people have scattered debris across the tarmac, significantly raising the threat of foreign object damage should some piece of trash get sucked into a jet engine.

The intensity of the situation means that those Marines and soldiers likely haven't slept since arriving and are probably forced to shit in MRE boxes inside MRAP vehicles as they cannot afford to leave the flight line. The troops have used tear gas, warning shots, and even low flying Apache helicopter maneuvers to disperse the crowd with limited effect.

Meanwhile, the Taliban has the airport completely surrounded and has not made any significant effort to take down aircraft or hinder the frantic US withdrawal operation.
