Ukrainians Show Javelin Missiles Defeating Russian Cage Armor

Footage released by the Ukrainian Military shows Javelin Missile systems provided by the United States defeating improvised armor that has been seen on some Russian tanks at their border.

One of the primary concerns that we've seen on the boarder of Ukraine right now is the build-up of armor and troops by Russian forces. Seen through satellite images, and on social media, are pictures of modernized Russian tanks with cage-style armor systems intended to defeat anti-tank guided missile systems, rpgs, other anti-tank weaponry like the NLAW and Javelin Missile Systems.

This test, which was conducted by the Ukrainian Military, pits the Javelin up against an improvised cage system built to mimic the style of armor that has been seen on Russian tanks both on social media and through satellite reconnaissance. What's unclear however is how accurately the Ukrainian Military was able to replicate the systems that the Russians have built.

While this test does prove that the Javelin will be an effective weapon against tanks sporting a cage-style armor addition, it doesn't accurately represent what the Russian military is using on their own modern tanks. Unfortunately for the Ukrainians, they won't get an accurate picture of what that looks like unless the Russians cross their own line of departure and being their invasion of Ukraine.
