Two Drag Racing Police Cruisers End Up Totaled, One Officer Fired (Audio 2:00)

Not a traditional bodycam release, but on April 22, 2021 Officers from the DC area were allegedly drag racing in a small residential area, when one Officer lost control of their car causing two cruisers to be totaled.

As seen in the footage provided, the Officers were parked, having a discussion with fellow Officers. The driver of the cruiser can be seen communicating with the other patrol vehicle parked along their right side, displaying their cell phone. Moments later, the driver seems to focus all attention on the road as the cruiser launches into a high speed.

Unfortunately there is no audio with the current footage, but this was allegedly a drag race between the other police cruiser. There have been reports stating the police cruisers were traveling between 60 to 90 mph in this small residential area.

As of right now, a probation Officer in one of the cars has been let go and the others are awaiting punishment. Many of the local residents are trying to fight that the Officers lose their positions due to neglecting safety in their neighborhood.

The only questions I have to raise is why was the Officer communicating on the radio while reaching these high speeds? Could both cruisers began responding to an incident and ended up colliding on accident? There is still an ongoing investigation to determine what actually happened.
