Troops in the Open Hit by ATGM Causing Mass Casualties

Syrian Soldiers find themselves in a mass casualty situation after they are ordered out into the open and hit by a rebel anti-tank guided missile system.

Throughout the Syrian Civil War, the most oppressive weapon system by far was the anti-tank guided missile. Initially provided to the Free Syrian Army by members of the American Central Intelligence Agency, the ATGM found its way to the top of the weapons food chain through a series of videos just like this. In order for the FSA to get replacement missiles for expended ATGMs, they were required to upload proof of the use of their munitions. The videos were required to show proof of expenditure, as well as proof of effects on target.

The unintended side-effect of this however still rings through into combat today in 2021. Anti-tank guided missile systems are now one of the most popular weapon systems amongst jihadist groups. TOWs are not readily available on the black-market, however systems like the FAGOT are not hard to obtain, and have now virtually replaced the sniper rifle as an insurgent weapon system. They can be fired and steered directly towards their target from kilometers away, which make them almost perfect for guerilla warfare tactics.

In this video, members of the Free Syrian Army employ an ATGM against Syrian Soldiers in the open. The soldiers, who don't know about the incoming missile until they are already impacted by it, are then thrown into absolute disarray as they try to assess the mass casualty situation that has been thrown onto them. Meanwhile, the FSA members are free to maneuver away from the group of soldiers that outnumber them easily 10 to 1.
