The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted a mock deployment and a simulated combat exercise in the high elevations of the Sichuan plateau in late October and Early November 2021.

The drills were intended to test the long-range deployment capabilities of the 75th Army Group as well as test the high-altitude fighting proficiency of the unit. The exercise began with railhead operations and evolved into mainly mechanized infantry and light armor drills.

The training maneuvers appear to be relevant to facing a near-peer force, such as the US as well as India where border conflicts are ongoing.
