On February 20, 2021, Cedar Rapids Officers responded to an incident at the Rodeway Inn where two female victims were brutally attacked by a knife wielding suspect.

The body cam footage displays officer Kyzer Moore arriving on the scene, where he spoke briefly with the victims before engaging in a foot chase. The two victims, one later identified as Katrina Brinson (wounded on the ground) preface officer Moore's arrival by stating the suspect had fled down the hallway in an attempt to escape.

Officer Moore began in his foot chase, where he was then confronted with the knife wielding suspect. Moore drew his firearm from its holster when first spotting the suspect outside the Inn and repeatedly stated "Drop the knife". The suspect continued forward toward officer Moore saying "shoot me". To protect the officer from being harmed, he fired multiple shots into the suspect in order to stop him from causing any further damage.

The victim inside the Inn, Katrina Brinson was rushed to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her wounds. As for the suspect, he was provided medical aid until medical transport arrived. He was later pronounced dead.
