Suspect Sets House On Fire, Then Engages In Shoot-out With Officers

On May 8, 2021 Baltimore County dispatch received multiple phone calls at around 6:40 a.m., about an individual shooting at people in their neighborhood in the 7500 block of Maury Road. The first responder, officer Irwin arrived at the scene, where one home was completely engulfed in flames. As he stepped out of his cruiser, he spotted the suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Everton Brown, armed with a handgun.

After yelling multiple times to drop the weapon, officer Irwin took one single precise shot, dropping the subject. Now on the ground, Brown continued to maintain his grasp of his firearm and began returning fire at incoming officers. As other responding officers exited their vehicles, Brown was lying on the ground between two parked cars. Still refusing to disarm himself, multiple officers begin firing full magazines into Brown, finally subduing him.

Unfortunately, three victims lost their lives to Brown's psychotic behavior. Ismael Quintanilla, 41 was stabbed multiple times and shot by Brown and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Another victim, Sagar Ghimire also suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Sara Alacote, 37 was shot multiple times while running out the front of her home in an attempt to flee Brown. Alacote was transported to a local medical facility but was later pronounced deceased.

As for Brown, he was pronounced deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. While officers investigated the scene, multiple make shift explosive devices were located in Browns vehicle. There is still an ongoing investigation to determine what motives Brown had and why this event occurred.
