On May 16, 2021, Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office conducted a routine traffic stop for an unregistered temporary license. During the traffic stop, the suspect falsely identified himself but was later identified as David Andre Johnson.

As the deputy continues to question Johnson, he attempted to evade police officers, beginning a high speed chase. After roughly 12 minutes, Johnson lost control of his vehicle while taking a corner at a high rate of speed. Moving his car back on to the road, one deputy stepped in and used an excellent pit maneuver on the suspects car causing enough damage to make it immobilized.

Johnson then exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene, but was tased shortly after. Johnsons reasoning for evading the traffic stop was an outstanding warrant in the state of Ohio for arson. He is now adding the following to his charges: Fleeing and Eluding, False Name to LEO, Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
