Special Forces ODA 3336: The Battle for Shok Valley

ODA 3336 battles over 200 HIG fighters in Shock Valley. At the end, 10 Soldiers were awarded the Silver Star for valor in combat. This is their story.

In a single battle, 10 Soldiers were awarded the silver star. One of those Soldiers had his Silver Star upgraded to the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2018. This was the largest number of awards received for a single battle since since the Vietnam war. Somewhere between 150 and 200 HIG fighters were killed in the operation. Six Americans were injured. One local interpreter was killed. Several members of the partnered Afghan force were also injured.
