Soldiers Recover Disabled Vehicle Under Fire

Published June 22, 2021

Video captured by Sgt. Ernest Henry shows members of the United States Army conducting a vehicle recovery operation under enemy fire in October of 2007 in the Haswah region of Iraq.

When a vehicle is disabled, a recovery crew is generally dispatched to pick the vehicle up. This is done to keep the equipment out of the enemy's hands, as well as to hopefully repair the vehicle and get it back into the fight. It is a long and involved process that requires a purpose-built wrecker, and a crew of determined Soldiers with an inclination towards the mechanical side of all things.

In this video, which was recorded in the Haswah region of Iraq back in October of 2007, we see an element of United States Army troopers conducting a recovery operation while they are being actively harassed by an element of insurgent fights. Shout out to Sgt. Ernest Henry, who is the individual that recorded this specific recovery operation.
