Six (6!) Oklahoma Cops Fail To Shoot Armed Suspect Pointing Gun At Them

This footage, coming out of Oklahoma City Police Department, shows six of their officers attempting and failing to shoot an armed suspect, despite the fact that he has a gun pointed at them. This is not meant to imply a failure to act- they all miss. After this jaw-dropping display of marksmanship, the suspect walks inside, puts his gun away, and surrenders peaceably.

The OKCPD are shown here engaging with Juan Castorenna-Guerrero, 59 years of age, having been called to the area based on reports of a man firing a gun. The suspect came to the door, gun in hand, which is where our footage picks up.

The officers deploy a 40-millimeter LTL round in an attempt to subdue the suspect, rather than let him fire the handgun in his possession. The LTL round is ineffective, and Castorenna-Guererro manages to raise the gun, pointing it at six armed police officers.

Now, in almost any other police department in the United States, this video would end a lot more quickly and in a spectacularly NSFW fashion. However, in either a fit of divine intervention or a symbiotic joining of high stress and piss-poor marksmanship, all six officers light up Castorenna-Guerrero, and all six of them miss.

And I don’t mean “they all throw a couple rounds outside the silhouette”- I mean the suspect is completely unscathed. This gets even more embarrassing when the bodycam footage shows the officers lined up on the truck bed like it’s a flat range, doing nothing to take cover or concealment or steady their (apparently awful) aim. Conspicuously absent from the footage is Castorenna-Guerrero walking back inside his house, putting his gun away, and then coming outside to surrender. Evidently, the suspect’s damage was done since the professional efficacy of six different, trained shooters got murdered in his front yard. The video footage takes up from this moment, showing him being walked back and proned out, felony-style.

No less than eleven of these stone-cold lawmen approach and make the arrest, ballistic shields in-hand. To be fair, they did not and could not know that the suspect didn’t have another weapon, but that benefit of doubt can’t be stretched to the other group of officers that come out of the woodwork to help by pointing their rifles at uninvolved houses and look useful. Just… great job, guys. Outstanding.
