Riot Police Defect To Protestors Amid Heavy Crackdown In Myanmar

A clips out of Myanmar (Burma) appear to show riot police defecting to join with protestors during the tenth day of ongoing and escalating demonstrations against a military coup that has ousted democratically elected leader, Aung San Kyi.

The first clip shows protestors being hosed by a water cannon, but the two riot police leave their ranks and join the protestors, guarding them with their shields. Their ranking officer tries to get them to return to their unit but they refuse. The crowd cheers.

Large deployments of military units rolled in during hours of darkness, and further clips show protestors running in panic as gun shots from the soldiers can be heard. It's not clear if the military was firing warning shots or actually targeting protestors. Shortly there after, internet access was cut off in the area.
