A turret gunner in Afghanistan is excited for his front-row seat to a controlled detonation of UXO or an enemy weapons cache. However, he wasn't ready for the magnitude of the blast, which sends a beautiful shockwave racing past him.

Although videos like are great a conveying the visual spectacle of such events, one thing that cannot be conveyed is the thunderous, earth-shaking concussion of massive explosions that can be felt throughout the body.

One can tell from the erupting explosion that it is large, but it appears to be very far away, and therefore the shockwave comes unexpectedly. A fun surprise for all.
