One Dead After Total Chaos Erupts Between Police and Large Family

Published Aug. 19, 2021

An incident that occurred in 2015 captured by a police officers dashcam, shows the absolute s*** show brawl with police that ensued after a family reportedly assaulted a Wal Mart employee.

On March 21, 2015, four Cottonwood police officers were dispatched to a nearby Wal Mart, after an employee contacted them stating they had just been physically assaulted. Upon arriving, the four officers confronted the Gaver family, consisting of a father, mother and four sons, whom immediately began threatening and hitting the responding officers.

In response, four additional officers were dispatched to the area to assist with the chaos which was unfolding. With a total of eight officers on the scene, officers attempted to apprehend the suspects with non-lethal measures, such as pepper spray, batons, and tasers.

As the struggle continued, the father began yelling at the officers "You're being a Nazi!" and "You're hitting children!". Clearly being delusional, the officers ignored the mans statements and continued attempting to apprehend the four sons. Nearing the 3:00 minute of the footage provided, officers can be heard stating "He's got my gun". Seconds later, shots ring out from a responding officers service weapon, striking two of the male subjects. One subject, 28-year-old David Gaver was struck in the stomach. The second shot, struck 21-year-old Enoch Gaver, fatally wounding him. Reports have indicated after being shot, Enoch was still in possession of one officers firearm.

With the chaos settling, police were able to successfully apprehend 55-year-old Peter Gaver, 52-year-old Ruth Gaver, 27-year-old Nathan Gaver, and 29-year-old Jeramiah Gaver, all which were charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and hindering prosecution. Along with the individuals stated, an 11-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody, but were not identified.
