Just when we think we've seen it all, events like this occur. Footage from a 2016 incident, shows an old man utilizing the art of deception to rob a convenience store.... armed with a Slim-Jim.

On November 11, 2016, an elderly male subject entered a convenient store located at 500 block of West Segundo Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. As seen in the footage, the store cashiers were actively cashing out another customer, as the suspect politely waits his turn.

With the paying customer now exiting the store, the suspect immediately becomes aggressive with the two cashier's. Starting off the conversation, the suspect mumbles to the cashier, "keep it down". He proceeds to follow that statement up with "I want you to grab the cash and put it there right now". While he makes these statements, the suspect has his hand, buried in his pocket, projecting the illusion of carrying a concealed weapon.

Clearly confused at what is happening, the two cashiers brush the suspect's remarks off, continuing to ignore him. Seconds later, the suspect begins physically threatening the two, as he states "put all of it here, or you will be shot". As he makes this statement, the suspect now moves his hand from his pocket, to underneath his shirt, now pretending to hold the two at gunpoint.

The suspect then climbs over the counter, still threatening the two clerks to open up the register or they are going to get shot. For the safety of their own lives, one cashier opens the register, granting the suspects request and giving him the money. Little did these cashiers know, the only thing this man was wielding, was a Slim-Jim beef stick. As the surveillance footage shows, the man was holding the tasty treat in his hand during the entire encounter.

Reports later stated, the suspect retrieved $300 USD from the register and fled the scene on foot. With the proper use of deception, this man bamboozled two cashiers, as he simulated a real armed robbery.
