(NSFW) Thor Strikes Down Gunman in Wisconsin Bar

This footage, provided by the Appleton, Wisconsin Police Department, shows their officers responding to a reported gunshot in a local bar. Two-year officer Yeeleng Thor was first on-scene, whereupon the suspect fired at him and promptly lost the gunfight. While aid was rendered, the suspect was declared dead on arrival at an area hospital. Therefore, viewer discretion is advised.

The provided footage begins with a security camera feed within the Maritime Bar, in Appleton Wisconsin. It shows the suspect, 41-yer-old Derk Brachmann with the weapon, as well as juxtaposed feeds that show the officers entering at 0:08. The two officers locate the suspect, who fires at Officer Thor at 0:29. Although Brachmann misses, Thor, AR-15 in hand, drops the hammer on him, and yes, of course I’d been waiting to say that. Brachmann is hit multiple times and collapses in the doorway a second later.

At 0:58, we see the incident from the perspective of Thor’s body camera (which, I am told, I am not allowed to refer to as ‘the Eye of Thor’). Thor’s partner officer is blurred, presumably to protect his identity as well, as he did not fire during the incident, though this seems to be inconsistent throughout the video. At 01:40, we see Bachmann, turned away from Thor and refusing to show his hands before he fires on Thor as shown in the security feed. Bachmann’s shot is distinctly audible at 01:42, and Thor fires approximately seven times in response. In the street outside, two officers are seen stopping a car and thoroughly scaring its driver. They are ostensibly working under the assumption that the car and driver may be related to the incident. At 05:13, the officers begin to cuff and render aid to Brachmann, who was pronounced dead on arrival at an area hospital. No other persons were harmed.
