Footage released to Twitter today captures the moment an improvised explosive device malfunctioned as a large group of Palestinians were arming it along the border wall, killing six and injuring an unknown number of people that were nearby.

According to the Israeli Defense Force, the group emplacing the improvised explosive device along the border wall were part of a hundreds strong group of rioters that were there to commemorate the 18th anniversary of Israel’s pullout from the Gaza Strip. At several points the IDF had to deploy riot control forces to disperse the crowd who were throwing explosive devices and hand grenades at the border wall. At this time it's unclear what caused the explosive to malfunction.

In a statement, the Hamas terror group said it mourned the six “heroic martyrs” who were killed in the blast. According to the group, at least 25 others were wounded.
