(NSFW) Officer Shoots Armed Man at the Scene of a Crime

Body worn camera footage released by the Orange County Sheriff’s department captures the moment deputies responding to the scene of a shooting engage a man armed with a pistol.

Body Worn Camera footage begins at the two minute mark.

Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department responded to a 9-1-1 call about an altercation that ended in a man being shot. The footage begins as deputies approach the victim, Dylan Jimenez, who is being treated by an off-duty paramedic and nurse. The brother of the victim, Brian Richardson, can be seen in the body worn camera footage holding a handgun, but the deputies don't notice him at first as they're focused on providing life-saving-aid to Jimenez.

Just seconds after arriving, people at the scene can be heard screaming about Richardson's gun, at which point the deputies immediately move to disarm him. Richardson doesn't immediately comply with officer's commands to drop the gun, and while a nearby female deputy moves into disarm Richardson, the second deputy opens fire on him.

The body worn camera video then abruptly ends.

According to local news reports, Richardson and Jimenez along with a third unnamed victim were all transported to a nearby medical facility. Richardson and Jimenez would both be pronounced dead at the hospital.

No deputies were injured in the incident, and the deputy who opened fire has been placed on temporary paid administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
