Footage recorded on May 10, 2022 and uploaded by the Kurdish Afrin Defense Forces (HRE) shows a sniper operation carried out against Turkish-led proxy forces in which a militant is fatally hit by a reported .50 anti material bullet.

The round was reportedly fired from a "Zagros" rifle, an indigenously developed weapon that fires the Soviet 12.7×108mm cartridge. The name Zagros is derived from the Zagros Mountain range running through Iran, northern Iraq, and southeastern Turkey.
