(NSFW) Felon Smashes Truck Through Multiple Garages, Officers Open Fire

On September 22nd, 2021, officers from the Columbus Police Department, Ohio, took action against a suspicious vehicle located at 700 Shakerton Lane, after an officer spotted a running vehicle with a man sleeping in the driver seat.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, one officer remembered the occupant from an incident which occurred just a few days prior on September 16th, where the suspect had fled the scene of a crime. During an investigation on September 16th, Columbus officers determined the suspect was in possession of two stolen vehicles and also possessed an illegal firearm. The suspect was later identified as 43-year-old Brandon Webb.

As seen in the body worn footage, Columbus officers take extra precautions as they approach the parked truck. With weapons drawn, one officer throws a spike strip behind the rear end of the vehicle. As the officer opens the door, he began commanding Webb to show his hands and to not move. Waking up from his slumber, Webb immediately began fighting off the officer, as he floored the gas pedal in reverse.

Unaware of his surroundings and under police gunfire, Webb slams the truck through two garage walls. Officers continued to fire their service weapons into the vehicle, however Webb was able to flee an additional half-mile before he crashed the truck into a parked car. While attempting to flee on foot, Webb could no longer run due to his gun inflicted injuries. Pursuing officers ultimately caught up to Webb and made a successful arrest.

Webb is expected to recover and is being held on an existing felony warrant for failure to appear. In later statements, Webb's family said they are "extremely upset" about the actions of the police officers. Directly quoted from Amy Webb, Brandon Webb's wife. "All them shots they let off on him was uncalled for, that cop wasn’t trying to keep him stationary I feel like he was trying to kill my husband and nobody has notified me all day, I've had to go through chains and I'm still not getting no information"

Does this seem justifiable to you? It is sometimes difficult to understand how some individuals thoughts are skewed. Maybe it's because we don't have the emotional/family investment in this person? You let us know what you think in the comments below.
