(NSFW) Connecticut State Trooper Point-Blanks Robbery Suspect

This bodycam footage shows the perspective of a Connecticut State Trooper as he engages a robbery suspect at a gas station. The suspect resists being detained and flees, prompting the officer to shoot him with his TASER. This video helps address a common misconception within the public and even inexperienced police officers- for all the assistance it can be in resolving conflicts, the TASER is not an “I win” button, which we see here as the lines break, allowing the suspect to continue fleeing. Whether by accident or design, the red pickup the suspect smacks into is a lot less forgiving. While innately humorous- people smacking into stuff always is- the situation gets a lot less funny when, despite being drive-stunned with the TASER, the suspect draws a revolver from his ankle. This prompts the officer to shoot him at extremely close range. This officer did a great job in transitioning from non-lethal to lethal when needed, and demonstrated the TASER’s shortcomings without becoming a statistic.
