(NSFW) Armed Suspect Blasted By DPD Officer As He Enters Stolen Car

Published Sept. 22, 2021

On December 28th, 2020, officers from the Denver Police Department were dispatched the 950 N Monaco Pkwy, after a 911 call came through from a man stating his neighbor was being assaulted. The caller additionally identified that the assailants were armed with handguns.

Upon arriving in the area, DPD officers made contact with two male subjects fleeing the area, 38-year-old Joshua Hamm and 44-year-old Tameka Dudley. Dudley had been located in a small sedan, parked on the side of the street for the groups getaway. DPD officers engaged in a short pursuit with Joshua Hamm, however the foot chase did not last very long, as DPD officers were successful in catching Joshua Hamm. Dudley, who was still located in the vehicle, fled the scene, and was later apprehended on December 31st, 2020.

While taking Joshua Hamm into custody, additional units arrived on the scene, where they soon heard gunshots ringing out from a nearby home. DPD officers soon located a third suspect, 47-year-old Larry Hamm, exiting the home, armed with a handgun. Moments before the footage provided begins, two DPD officers attempted to stop Larry Hamm, as he ran into the Monaco Pkwy. and attempted a carjacking.

Still armed with the handgun, Hamm ran infront of a grey SUV, pointed his weapon at the occupant, and threatened to shoot. In return, the occupant floored the gas pedal and fled the area, completely exposing Hamm to the responding officers. DPD officers fired multiple shots, hitting an innocent pedestrians vehicle, and missing all shots against Hamm. No occupants from either bystander vehicle were injured.

DPD officers eventually lost sight of Larry Hamm and began setting up a perimeter in the area. Only a few minutes later, an additional officer spotted Larry Hamm further down Monaco Pkwy., attempting to remove another bystander from their vehicle. With an officer actively pursuing him, Larry Hamm continued to avoid officers commands. While following him, two vehicles stopped in the nearby lane, where Larry Hamm attempted to enter the driver side door. He was unsuccessful. The responding DPD officer told Larry Hamm, if he entered the vehicle, he would be shot.

Larry Hamm entered the passenger side of the vehicle, where the responding DPD officer then fired multiple point-blank shots through the window, striking him multiple times. Larry Hamm was pulled from the vehicle and provided medical aid until he was transported to a local medical facility. Larry Hamm later succumbed to his injuries.

While this all occurred, additional DPD officers began investigating the home the initial shots were heard from. The two homeowners had both been shot, the husband fatally wounded and his wife in critical condition. No DPD officers of additional civilians were injured during this incident.

Upon further investigation, DPD officers located a rifle in front of the residence, a handgun near the scene and a third firearm was found on Joshua Hamm after his arrest. Both Tameka Dudley and Joshua Hamm were later charged with the following:

Fist-degree murder
Attempted first-degree murder
Two counts of first-degree robbery
Two counts of aggravated robbery
