(NSFW) Abducted Officer Opens Fire On Suspect After Refusing To Stop SUV

Published July 26, 2021

During the early morning hours of May 6, 2021, an officer from the Casper Police Department, was abducted during a traffic stop, which ultimately led to an officer involved shooting.

As the traffic stop initiated, the two men in the vehicle seemed to be compliant with the officers. After gaining a bit of information, the officers went back to their vehicle to begin processing the identifications they were given. While running the names, they realized the passenger had given false identification and allegedly was having trouble retrieving his vehicle insurance information.

The officer, now calling the passengers bluff, asked the man to step out of the vehicle. This is when things took a turn for the worst. The passenger rolled his window up and began telling the officer he is refusing to be questioned. With the window now rolled up, the driver and passenger began speaking to each other, causing serious concern to the officer. Moments later, the driver of the vehicle hastily exited the SUV with his hands in the air, as the passenger jumped into the driver's seat.

Making a split second decision, the officer opened up the door and attempted to remove the key from the ignition. Unfortunately, the officer failed to do so and the suspect began driving at a high rate of speed, going to wrong direction onto an on-ramp. The officer, who is now sitting in the passenger seat, began giving verbal commands to the suspect stating "stop the f***ing car!" and "I'm going to f***ing shoot you". The suspect, continued his reckless driving, then began reaching to his hip. After stating multiple times "stop reaching", the officer ultimately ends up firing multiple shots, striking the suspect, point blank.

With the vehicle now stopped, officers removed the suspect from the vehicle and began providing medical aid. Within six minutes of the shooting, medical transport arrived on the scene and took the suspect to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Upon investigating the vehicle, a bag behind the driver side seat had over an ounce of Methamphetamine and a BB gun resembling an SR .357 revolver. From the officers initial command to exit the vehicle until shots were fired, the officer issued twenty-seven verbal commands within a one minute and twelve second time frame.
