During the Feb. 3, 2022 US special operations raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al Hashimi al Qurayshi, it was reported that a US helicopter suffered a "technical malfunction," causing it to become inoperable. In order to keep sensitive equipment from falling into the hands of the various Islamist groups infesting the area, US forces, likely close air support, completely destroyed the crippled aircraft.

It's likely that the helicopter was a UH-60 variant, piloted by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), also known as the "Night Stalkers." The loss of the aircraft is reminiscent of the 2011 SEAL raid in Pakistan to kill al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. During that raid a previously publicly unknown stealth Black Hawk variant made a hard landing and was left at the objective location.

The attached footage, recorded by a local Syrian, gives a visual tour of the demolished helicopter which appears to have been significantly destroyed, as reported by official US sources.
