Navy Search And Rescue Performs High Altitude Rescue Operation

A Navy search and rescue team from NAS Whidbey Island located and rescued an injured hiker from Mount Baker on June 3, 2020.

The local police force as well as Homeland Security assets searched for two hours and were unable to locate the party in distress due to dense cloud cover and poor cell service with the injured hiker.

The Navy SAR crew located the patient within 10 minutes of being on station. Medical personnel rappelled to the ground and extracted the injured woman with a hoist. She was then flown to a local hospital for further treatment.
