Mortar Fail: Round Exits Mortar Tube on Fire

Published Oct. 6, 2021

Marines on a mortar range experience a failure when the heat of the mortar tube ignites the increments. Fortunately, this was not a catastrophic failure, and no one was injured.

Sometimes, you're just not in control of what's going on when you're operating weapon systems like this. No amount of training or proficiency in a weapon system can prevent something like this from happening. Sometimes, Murphy just shoves his face down into your mortar tube and lights the yellow mortar round increments on fire, causing the round to come shooting out of the end of the tube on fire like a literal bat out of Hell.

According to some of my mortar buddies who viewed this video, this isn't an entirely uncommon occurrence. I want to hear from some of the Funker530 tube strokers down in the comments though. Have you ever experienced a weapon malfunction like this with any of your mortar systems? If so, hit us up with that story, I want to hear all about it.
