Massive Explosion Filmed In Azerbaijan Gas And Oil Rig Sector

A massive explosion was filmed in Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector of the Caspian Sea on Jul. 4, 2021 and Azeri officials are claiming the blast was caused by a mud volcano.

Azerbaijan holds extensive gas and oil deposits. Occasionally, pockets of gas violently erupt out of the ground, and it's possible that rocks smashing together during one of these mud volcano eruptions created a spark that ignited the gas and caused the massive blast seen in the video. Azeri state oil company Socar stated that none of its rigs were damaged in the explosion.
