Man Regrets Trying To Use Truck As Weapon After Trooper's Shoot Him (NSFW)

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) recently released body camera and dashcam footage from a critical incident that occurred on November 11th, 2021, showing the moments a distressed man was shot after he attempted multiple times to run responding Trooper's over.


At approximately 0600 hours, 9-1-1 received a call from the mother of the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Erik Legried, regarding his suicidal ideations. The mother, additional indicated Legried made remarks of shooting himself or driving head-on into oncoming traffic to end his life. Additionally, law enforcement was informed he was in the area of the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Visitor's Center.


As indicated by the multiple sources of footage, law enforcement officers provided ample time and numerous opportunities to Legried to surrender, however he refused to comply. After attempting at least three times to use his vehicle as a weapon, two NHP officers opened fire on Legried, striking his vehicle and disabling it. During the shooting, Legried was struck in the leg by a single shot.


Legried was rendered medical aid almost immediately by responding officers and later transported for non-life-threatening injuries. Since the shooting, Legried faces multiple charges, including battery of a protected person, resisting a public officer, and damaging or destroying state property.


No officers were injured during this incident.
