CCTV footage dating back as early as 2017, shows the moments a man disposed of his cigarette butt down a drainage pipe, where it immediately backfired and exploded in his face.

While this video is nearly five years old, this is the first time I myself had seen it. During the first playthrough, I genuinely thought an IED turned this man into pink mist, as this incident did occur in Tehran, Iran (No biases here). After further analysis, you notice him drop a small, white object down into what appears to me a small drainage pipe in the cracked sidewalk.

During a longer cut of this footage, not even twenty-minutes prior to the explosion, a man had emptied a bag of what appears to be fecal matter (Just my opinion) into the same drain. Although there is no clear definition of what was thrown in there, it clearly contained some sort of reactive gas/material to cause this massive explosion.

Reports have indicated the man involved survived the explosion and only sustained minor injuries.
