Witness video captures a Oct. 8, 2021 Los Angeles Police Department SWAT raid that resulted in the death of a suspected hostage taker and the rescue of the victim.

The footage is filmed from a nearby apartment complex, and through the window, the suspect can be seen holding some sort of weapon menacingly against the hostage.

Seconds later, the SWAT team kicks in the door and starts throwing distraction/concussion grenades. The suspect scrambles for cover as the officers enter the residence. The suspect was shot and died at the scene.

According to LAPD, the suspect had committed several crimes leading up to the hostage situation. Including multiple attempted murders and an attempted carjacking. Police were in pursuit of the suspect when he entered the apartment building and took the man hostage.
