(NSFW) Karen Rebels Overrun Myanmar Army Outpost In Deadly Daylight Raid

Karen Rebels of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) 5th Brigade filmed their Mar. 26, 2021 deadly attack on a Myanmar (Burma) military camp, resulting in the reported deaths of 10 government troops, several more captured, and no friendly casualties taken.

From the footage it appears the KNLA fighters caught the Tatmadaw government troops off guard as they were able to sneak an entire company sized element up to the perimeter wire and breach without being detected.

The rebels, armed with small arms and a few RPGs overwhelmed the camp quickly, ensuring a deadly and decisive victory. The Myanmar government responded the following day with an air and ground offensive, carrying out its first airstrikes within Karen state in 20 years. The military operation has already displaced 20,000 people, who are now hiding in the jungle away from their farms and without food or shelter.

The Buddhist Burmese government has oppressed the mostly Christian Karen people for decades, outlawing their languages, churches, and killing civilians at random. The KNLA was formed to defend the people from the government attacks.

Following the Feb. 1, 2021 Myanmar military coup against the democratically-elected government, massive protests and strikes sprung up across the country and are still ongoing. The military has responded with ever-increasing violence in an attempt to quell the demonstrations, and in places like Karen state, conduct targeting operations to arrest and disappear teachers and local government officials that, they say, are fueling the dissent.
