A thermal video from 2007 shows a foot patrol of Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldiers from the Golani Infantry Division getting ambushed by a contingent of Hamas militants using grenades.

The IDF troops perform a text book "react to near ambush" battle drill, violently charging at their attackers with overwhelming firepower. They are able to neutralize one of the enemy fighting positions, but are soon engaged by another Hamas fighter. One of the soldiers rushes his enemy as the terrorist was pulling a pin on a grenade. The IDF soldier throws the insurgent onto the grenade to absorb the blast, thus killing the terrorist and saving the IDF squad.
