Georgia Police PIT and Take Down Armed Carjackers

This footage, provided by Gwinnett County, GA, shows police officers conducting a PIT maneuver to stop a recently stolen vehicle. The vehicle's owner was shot during the carjacking, which establishes the urgency and rapidity with which the suspects are apprehended. Once arrested, both suspects faced a litany of charges, including gang charges.


After the initial PIT maneuver at 0:05, a following officer impacts the suspect vehicle a second time, striking it in the rear left corner at 0:13. As one of the suspects, later identified as James Casey, 19, flees from the driver side, the officer gives chase, bringing him down at 0:27. As Casey is taken into custody, search of his property reveals the handgun- A Sig P230 that was used in the carjacking. The other suspect, Deaundrey Everett, 22 is found in a small copse of trees at 1:07.


The first suspect shown, Casey, was charged with: Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm During Commission or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes, Hit and Run, Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Driving While License is Suspended, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Unsafe Lane Change, Improper Window Tint and four gang charges.


His passenger, Everett: Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and two gang charges.
