Cop Shot In Neck During Running Gunfight

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department body worn camera footage shows a drunk driving call rapidly escalate into a running gun battle in which one of the responding officers was shot in the neck and the suspect was also shot multiple times.

From the report: On Feb. 27, 2022 IMPD officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash shortly after 10 p.m. Dispatch told officers that a man in a red jacket, who was involved in the collision, was exposing himself and acting strange.

As the officers located the suspect , later identified as 31-year-old Mylik Hill, they attempted to make contact. Hill instantly fled on foot and then fired at the officers as they got close. One of the officers was hit in the neck. Other officers returned fire, hitting Hill, but he was able to run off.

Aerial assets combined with homeowner security cameras were able to give the responding SWAT team enough information to locate Hill who was then taken into custody without further incident. Both Hill and the wounded officer reportedly survived their injuries.
