Dashcam footage recorded by a civilian driving into Kherson on February 24th captures footage of an on-going firefight between Ukrainian and Russian armed forces in the opening hours of the invasion of Ukraine.

One day prior to this video being recorded, there is a high chance that the person driving this vehicle had absolutely zero expectation of the war between Ukraine and Russia coming to fruition. For months and months prior to the actual invasion there was posturing and sabre rattling from Russia, but no action. For many civilians in Ukraine, by the time the invasion kicked off, the thought of it actually occurring was becoming nothing more than a minor disturbance in their every day lives.
