Salt Lake City Police Department released body cam footage of the officer-involved shooting death of Andrew Jacob Preece, 34, on July 25, 2020.

Police responded to call about a knife fight, and when they arrived they made contact with an armed suspect. The suspect failed to comply with the officers' instructions to drop the weapon. Preece then grabbed a man and held the blade to his neck, turning the incident into a hostage situation. As the suspect continuously failed to comply with the police, the officers waited for an opportunity to engage the suspect. Preece was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
